Scriptures Used During Today’s Broadcast: Romans 8, Luke 22:31-34, Luke 24:46-47
Jesus will take us to the depths of our souls to expose this rotten core, where we harbor bitter anger against God. Some of us in the Prayer Chapel have referred to this as the bitter root, while others have called it the old man or the Adamic nature. It’s also called a sifting by Satan.
Pastor Ray compares Peter’s denial of Jesus to that of Judas Iscariot. Both of these disciples were sifted and know that Jesus will sift us, so that this bitter root can be removed and our hearts uncovered. Will we flee and deny Jesus as Judas Iscariot did, or will we repent of this bitter root and ask Jesus to remove this bitter root from our hearts? In short, this is our great need of sanctification, to have this enmity removed by the power of Jesus.
