The human heart dreads abandonment. We may ask, “Where is God? Why has he abandoned me?” But, to tell the truth, God didn’t abandon us. We abandoned God.
The prodigal son illustrates the case of every sinner. Discontent with authority, the son struck out on his own to have his own life. In the process, he abandoned his Father and family.
Do you recognize that you abandoned God? And, if you’re not converted, you still abandon him every day? Won’t you come to your senses, see that you deserve nothing, and throw yourself at the mercy of Jesus?
