John Wesley on Entire Sanctification – 2012

What is entire sanctification and how do we obtain this blessing? If your heart is to go deeper with Jesus, this message will be beneficial to you.

Scriptures Used During Today’s Broadcast: 1 Thessalonians 4, 1 Thessalonians 5 and 2 Thessalonians 2

Today’s topic, Wesley’s view of entire sanctification, is a mystery to much if not most of the modern church because it’s not part of the Western church as it was in days gone by. Pastor Ray uses a simple booklet by a dear brother Reverend D.A. Whedon (from the 19th century), along with his own testimony and experience to help summarize Wesley’s writings on the topic and make it clear what the Lord is looking for in us.

Here’s how Wesley defined this entire sanctification in a brief statement (more detailed quotes are in the message):

“It is “the loving God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength.”

This is something we must have to reach others with the Gospel message, lest we spent all of our efforts on dealing with the carnal nature. Have you been converted and is that reflected in your ability to not succumb to sin? Is the hunger of your heart to have Jesus, come what may, regardless of the cost? If you can answer yes to these two questions, seek the Lord and ask for this blessing!
