Disown Your Life (2013)

Hear the call to disown ourselves through this story of Abram and Sarai. They failed today's test but the battle is not finished yet. Let Jesus win the battle in your soul.

Scriptures Used During Today’s Broadcast: Matthew 10, Luke 9, Genesis 16

On today’s broadcast, hear the call to Abram and Sarai to disown their lives. Unfortunately for most of us, including Abram and Sarah, this process of disowning themselves didn’t occur overnight. Pastor Ray lays out this path in his own pilgrimage to help explain what the Lord is after in our hearts by disowning ourselves.

(G)od has a wonderful plan for your life. But first, he must help you make the absolute transition into himself, and he does that usually by bringing suffering into our life.” – Pastor Ray during today’s message

Note that we save ourselves much trouble by not judging one another, by not grumbling or by bringing accusations against God because He hasn’t treated us as we thought he should. Our emotions generally lag behind our faith in Christ.

“(m)y advice is praise God for that soul agony because it is a very clear indicator that God is in the process of separating you out to himself. If the soul agony has been caused by sin, then it is time to repent and allow God to remove that agony from your soul. But if it is of this separation that I’m speaking about, repentance will not remove it. Only a heart humbled and totally dependent upon Jesus will bring this time of piercing to a conclusion.

Pastor Ray during today’s message

Abram and Sarai decided to make everything work themselves (i.e. make God’s promise come true through their own efforts) and a son (Ishmael) was conceived through a slave (Hagar). They failed the test. We’re going to pick back up with the story next week as Pastor Ray will not be live and he needs some rest and prayer.
