Scriptures/Other Sources Used in Today’s Message: Matthew 6:5-15, Matthew 26:26-28, The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis, 1 Corinthians 10:14-22, Holy Spirit Revivals by Charles Finney,
Today’s message is a call to deny our unbelief and to pray. Pastor Ray walks us through a brief summary of the Lord’s Prayer, with the primary focus today being upon eating the broken body of Jesus. What does it mean to eat the broken body of Jesus, and how do I enter in?
The next part of the message emphasizes denying our unbelief and entrusting everything to Jesus in prayer, rather than settling for a prayer life devoid of struggle. We must bring all of our sin, all of our pain, all of our deadness, everything to the cross of Jesus. Finally, Pastor Ray reads what this looks like through the eyes of our dear Brother Finney. Are you willing to deny your unbelief and pray and stand upon the promises of God, first for your own heart and those around you, and then this city and this nation?
In regard to my own experience, I will say that I could do nothing unless I had the spirit of prayer. If even for a day or an hour I lost the spirit of grace and supplication, I found myself unable to preach with power and effectiveness or to win souls by personal conversation. My experience has always been such.
