It seems to me that we (i.e., the body of Christ) have believed that hardness of heart (as unbelief) seems inevitable, and there’s nothing we can do about it. What a horrific lie to believe, because it takes the blame away from our behaviors. Are you willing to squarely address this issue, directly with Jesus?

When we don’t desire Jesus above everything else, it’s because we’re delighting ourself in other people or other things and our hearts are hard. Some of you have have delighted yourself in your daydreams, in your imaginations. You have delighted yourself and if you continue to delight yourself in those imaginations. They will probably come true and then you’ll be filled with darkness and given over to the evil one. So what today have you delighted Yourself in? What have you delighted yourself in? Have you delighted yourself In the Lord?

As I’m preparing this post, I thought of the testimony of Jennie F. Willing from the book cited below. Jennie asked the question as a young Christian in the late 19th Century.
