The Concrete Reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ – 2009

When we fully come into this concrete reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, He will change everything in our lives. Are you willing to be done with mysticism and humanism and want Jesus to reign? Then listen and obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Scriptures Used During Today’s Broadcast – Romans 8

It might be helpful to have a working definition of concrete reality to begin our post, this is from the Cambridge Dictionary:

“the state of things as they are, rather than as they are imagined

Pastor Ray begins the message by going through muchl of the mysticism in the modern church, which is a polar opposite of the concrete reality of the Gospel of Jesus. He gives us the primary key to discerning the true from the false:

“(i)t’s the purpose of the Holy Spirit not to be front and center. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to make Jesus Christ front and center.”

Pastor Ray then exposes what our dear brother Malcolm Lavender referred to as “The Fallacy of the Sinning Christian.” It proclaims that I’m righteous while continuing to walk in sin. In short it’s mysticism and totally illogical and at odds with the scriptures.

Pastor Ray walks us through one story of Elijah to help illustrate this reality, as this whole walk with Jesus is real not imagined (i.e. it’s not a fanciful dream).

The kissing cousin to this mysticism is humanism, which is simply a worship of and self-sufficiency of man (i.e. self-worship). The remainder of the message is about specific things that Jesus specifically did for Pastors Ray and Jan, real not mystical and not humanistic. Do you need this concrete reality of Jesus in your life? Please listen to the message and allow the Holy Spirit to uncover any vestiges of mysticism or humanism in your heart, as you repent and surrender.
