Do You Lie to God?

Most of us have deceived ourselves by not being responsible for our own wicked behaviors and attitudes. What if you decide today to be completely honest with the Holy Spirit about what He shows in your own heart? That's where He wants to take you.

Scriptures Used During Today’s Broadcast: 1 John 1, 1 John 2

On today’s Pilgrim’s Progress, Pastor Ray walks us through parts of Chapters 1 & 2 in the epistle of 1 John. He speaks of the lie of self-deception, which is a place where our pride hides our sin, and although we may be able to discern others’ sinful ways, we’re blinded by our own iniquity.

There’s only one way through, that is to be honest with God and ask Him to search your heart and uncover any darkness. The Holy Spirit will always uncover our hearts if we’re willing to listen to what He wants to tell us. It’s not a self-help process that Jesus takes us through, but rather a revelation that there is none righteous, except Jesus. Let Jesus remove your sins and cleanse your heart from all unrighteousness as you listen to today’s message.

There’s the nub of the problem. We lie to God about our situation, about our condition. We make ourselves look a lot better than what God would say we look like to him. We don’t honestly admit our situation: it’s somebody else, it’s our wife, it’s our husband, it’s a friend, it’s somebody else. It’s not me, God: but it is you, you’re lying to God
