The thread of all the messages this week is to offer ourselves on the altar of burnt offering, and today’s message is a summation of that theme. We can learn much from Father Abraham’s full submission to the Lord God of heaven.
The Lord God of heaven never comes to us and asks first for the ultimate sacrifice. He always hits the easy ones first. And the deeper and the further you walk in this with Jesus Christ, the closer you’re coming to the ultimate sacrifice.For each of us, that ultimate sacrifice is going to look a little different. But you can quickly identify it because it will be identified by your life. Always the question for the ultimate sacrifice is, will you lay your life down on that altar of burnt offering? Your physical, your emotional, your spiritual. Will you lay your life down on that altar of burnt offering?

When considering today’s message, the Holy Spirit led me to a verse from the old hymn “Trust and Obey”:
But we never can prove the delights of His love
John H. Sammis – 1887
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
The human heart wants to invert this, but that will never work, dear one. The fullness of God’s love comes to those who have not withheld anything from Him but freely laid everything down at the altar. Is this your experience? If not, it can be yours if you’re willing to pay the cost.
