The Year of Jubilee (2004 Sermon)

This is a powerful message about jubilee, about what Jesus has provided for in the atonement (full deliverance from sin and healing even in the inner man). When can experience this? Why not TODAY????

Scriptures Used During Today’s Message: Isaiah 6 (from the opening prayer), Leviticus 25, Hebrews 3, Hebrews 4, Luke 4, Matthew 13:54-57, Matthew 8, Isaiah 53

This is a wonderful sermon as it’s all about Jubilee. First, Pastor Ray lays out the meaning in the Old Testament and then in the New Testament. (A definition is included at the bottom of the post.) The key question Pastor Ray addresses is “When is my year of Jubilee?”.

Jubilee is made available through the atonement (i.e., through the blood Jesus shed for our sins). Jesus intends that every day is a day of Jubilee in the New Covenant, that the blood of Jesus can remove every sin and give us victory.

Through the atoning blood of Jesus, we also have access to full healing (body, soul, and mind). Most of us have not fully come into this yet, but we pray that the Lord will open this up to us. Today is your day for Jubilee, while you embrace it by denying yourself, taking up your cross and following Jesus?

Among the Jews, every fiftieth year, being the year following the revolution of seven weeks of years, at which time all the slaves were liberated, and all lands which had been alienated during the whole period, reverted to their former owners. This was a time of great rejoicing.
