Lot's wife is an example of a person who appeared to be part of God's family, but was never freed from sin. Jesus warned that such people would not be saved (John 8). But what kept Lot's wife from making a full surrender to God?
When Lot's wife looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah, she revealed that she loved it. She loved her friendships, her wealth, and her luxury. To her, opposing sin was less important than a comfortable city lifestyle.
Likewise, today many professing Christians compromise with sin and yet expect to go to heaven. But Jesus warns us, “Remember Lot's wife.”
Are you a servant of sin, or have you allowed the Son of God to make you free?
