An Undivided Heart (2006)

Do you have an undivided (i.e. unsanctified) heart?

Is your heart for Jesus undivided? The promise of the new covenant reads, “I will give them an undivided heart and a put a new spirit in them” (Ezekiel 11:19). This is the normal state of a person born again by grace.

On the other hand, a person with a divided heart will participate in both religious and worldly activity. Perhaps you go to church on Sunday and pay your tithe. Then, you go home and kick back with a beer and the football game. Or, you say you’re a Christian, then cheat at work or yell at your family.

Jesus did not say, “I will pretend that you have an undivided heart.” Nor did he say, “I will look at you as if you have an undivided heart. When I see you, I’ll see myself.” Instead, he said that he would in reality give us an undivided heart. Thus, sinful inconsistencies in character indicate a cultural Christian, not a born again Christian.

Are you walking in the old covenant, under the law? Do you try to do what’s right, but then do what is evil? If so, are you ready for the real deal? Will you give yourself wholly to Jesus and let him give you an undivided heart?
