When the disciples asked, “Lord, teach us to pray,” Jesus shared not only how to pray, but what to pray for. First, we’re to pray on behalf of others: the church, the lost, the persecuted, and individuals. Second, we’re to pray for the Holy Spirit as an indwelling Person who brings Pentecost, revival power. This continual indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the “daily bread” that only God can give.
For example, you may pray that your pastor receives an anointing of the Holy Spirit that will bring sinners to repentance. Or, you may pray that Christians in North Korea receive grace to endure persecution and power to win the lost. God promises that if we will shamelessly persist in asking, he will give us all that we need!
