What are the requirements of God? Is saying, “I'm saved,” enough?
These questions concerned the Jews of Jesus' day, and Jesus gave very clear answers. The Lord said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. The practical, detailed outworking of these commands is expressed in the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount.
So how are we to meet these requirements? Simply, it is by faith in Christ. When you give yourself totally to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will take up residence in you. Then, your faith will produce obedience. On the day of judgment, God will judge you by what you've done–and find that what you did was truly righteous.
