In his memoir, Holy Spirit Revivals, Charles Finney describes how revival broke through fierce opposition in Auburn, New York. Finney brought the opposition before the Lord. After several days of prayer, he was lifted into a perfectly trustful, perfectly calm state of mind. Kindness for those who opposed the revival filled Finney’s heart. He determined to go straight ahead in the work of revival and trust Jesus with those who were hostile. This same determination is needed today for those who would win, by prayer and witness, Washington, D.C. to Jesus. It’s time to lay aside coldness, judgments, and criticisms and remember the awful garbage can of darkness out of which Jesus saved us so that compassion may fill our hearts. Is this your present experience?
