The author of Hebrews writes, “Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins” (9:22). Thus, the cleansing Isaiah experienced with fire was not for forgiveness. Like the disciples in the upper room, Isaiah had already been forgiven. He was already righteous. But, he and the disciples needed the purifying of the inner man to remove hindrances to God’s power flowing through them.
Likewise, we today need this blessing of being purified and empowered after the new birth. Have you received this second blessing?
